HONG KONG DENIM FESTIVAL 4TH EDITION – Walking with Denim

This project compiles interview segments with four emerging designers from the Global Denim Talents Programme, offering an in‑depth look at contemporary practice in denim design. Through studio footage and runway excerpts, the video examines material innovation, sustainable processes, and creative narratives: laser‑printed, wear‑evolving motifs in Jesse Lee’s Blue Fossil Record; reversible constructions and eco‑friendly textiles in Jason Lee’s YMDH that bridge formal and casual dress; Jasmine Cheuk’s Folded Rings. Sea Rhythms, which marries pleating and curved silhouettes with recycled denim and low‑impact laser techniques, and Max Tsang’s CLAYMORE, exploring tech‑military functionality within a post‑urban narrative. Complemented by designer reflections on craftsmanship and market strategy, the film highlights the programme’s role—supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA)—in facilitating technical experimentation, sustainable practice and international exposure. The presentation positions these projects as exemplars of how denim can be reinterpreted to meet contemporary aesthetic, environmental, and commercial demands.
